2011 or after. Tom is perfect.
Funny, I always thought that he looked horrible at TIFF 2011 and so much better in 2013. Looks-wise, it’s always been my least favourite appearance of his, and take a gander at some of the other pics from that day, he looks even worse in those.
In 2011 he had just come off filming Avengers, and I always thought he looked exhausted. Somehow he also looked like he hadn’t even taken off his Loki make-up yet, hence the “white as a ghost” look which doesn’t become him at all.
In 2013 he had been “off work” so to speak for the whole summer. Of course I use the term “off work” loosely, because I believe that he hardly ever is, even when he is not shooting a film. But what I mean is that he hadn’t just come off a tiring five month movie shoot (he had been meant to shoot “Close Enough” that summer which sadly hadn’t happened) but that he had most likely enjoyed a bit of downtime.
To me, his complexion in 2013 looks much better. I don’t even see bags under his eyes, but if there are any, then they most likely came from jet leg from having flown in from Europe, while in 2011 he had already been on the North American continent for weeks. The slightly thinner neck is most likely from not having been in training for a role as in 2011. The tenseness in his jawline is most likely just in that photo. It’s just a snapshot, and he looks like he was trying to suppress a smile a bit. The creases in his collars - different fabrics. His suit collar that day was velvet for instance. Try and make that not looked creased.
I know we like to poke gentle fun at the fact that he doesn’t seem to age, but he does. Everybody does, and it would be unfair to expect to not see any evidence of that over the course of two years. But all things considered, I would say that he is aging amazingly well with (so far) only gentle changes.
It’s funny how we can look at the same photos and see such different things.
